Way to go City of Abbotsford. You've decided to support an application that will destroy a community, pollute a salmon spawning creek and obliterate an area that is environmentally fragile. It's ok though because your friend Ron Emerson will make millions of dollars.

Dear Mayor Braun, I am not offering up any new information on land extractions, or your deliberations tomorrow. So you ought to be able to read this without disqualifying your impartiality.
A PROTEST RALLY has been organized to demonstrate Bradner and Mt Lehman's stance on the City of Abbotsford's application to EXCLDE 699 acres for Industrial Parks! This Monday (July 17th) @ 7:30am in the Dunach Elementary parking lot (corner of Mt Lehman and Downs). NO TO EXCLUSIONS / HONK IF YOU AGREE. Make a sign, make a banner and see you there! This EXCLUSION will add 12,000+ cars on our Rural Roads! The City of Abbotsford has NO answers on road infrastructure upgrades!
By Don Burke, MD, FRCPC, FACP - Dear Mayor Braun and Abbotsford City Council Members, This letter is on behalf of the physicians of Abbotsford and like-minded professionals.
It is my understanding that city council is intending to vote on whether to remove two parcels of land, one near the airport (Plan B), and the other in Bradner (Plan A), from ALR protection in order to allow industrial development. I also understand that there is a public hearing scheduled for July 17th at city hall regarding this topic. Come out and tell the City of Abbotsford what you think about pulling 699 acres out of the ALR for Industry in West Bradner and South Mt Lehman. Each opinion will be recorded in the official minutes.
The City of Abbotsford is looking at excluding West Bradner and Southeast Mt Lehman from the ALR for Industrial use. West Bradner is located East of Gloucester Industrial Estate, and the Trans-Canada Highway. Agricultural activity, including hay, blueberry, small-scale vegetable production, pasture and grape production, is primarily located in the southern portion of West Bradner.
The Southeast Mt Lehman portion is located between the Peardonville and Clearbrook Industrial Areas and Abbotsford International Airport. Agricultural activities at this location primarily include blueberry, raspberry, and strawberry production as well as poultry and greenhouse operations.
Concerns have been growing since the recent sale of agriculture land in the heart of Bradner and the new owners activities that are now taking place. The address is 5383 Bradner Road almost directly across from the Bradner Store and two doors down from the Bradner Hall. The property beside it home of Northside Transport Ltd. (5323 Bradner Road) has also been chipping away green space for some years already and is now being used for industrial/commercial purposes. Both properties are Agricultural One Zone (A1) for Agricultural and Agri-Tourism uses (lots that are 8.0 ha and larger in size.)
By Lynda Richard - It has been a month since the Abbotsford City Council meeting held at the Matsqui Auditorium on June 20th, 2016 and adopted the revised Official Community Plan (OCP) that replaced the 2005 Abbotsford OCP. Although those involved in developing the plan had much praise for their own efforts and the large percentage of public input, many of us in the outlying areas of Abbotsford were unaware that the process was even taking place. Some people I spoke with did not even know what the initials OCP stand for.
The numbers quoted at the meeting added up to about 6% of Abbotsford residents taking part in the feedback process. Many of us do not receive the local paper on a regular basis (delivery can be sporadic) and many do not read online. That June 20th council meeting was the final chance for input from the public regarding the adoption of a new Official Community Plan (OCP). The plan, though generally acceptable in content, did include at least one unacceptable proposal, and that is the lands located in the proposed west Bradner Industrial Park as a study area for future industrial use. The Provincial Government has very recently amended the Agricultural Land Commission Act and Regulations to provide that where a local government (or the Commission itself) proposes to exclude land from the ALR it must have the owner’s written consent within a period of not less than 60 days....
