Patience is running thin while residents of Bradner wait for the City of Abbotsford and the legal system to uphold the City's Zoning Bylaws and remove serial sex offender, James Conway, from our rural neighbourhood.

Without prejudice - Reader beware. The Abbotsford School Districts plan to re-configure 6 rural schools in Abbotsford from grades K - 7 to K - 5 has brought a lot of stress on families with children attending district schools. The west Abbotsford children are to be sent to Eugene Reimer Middle School (ER), and has parents standing up to the district in force saying no and standing firm - their kids have been withdrawn from the district all together. So what's wrong with middle school? Whats wrong with ER? Much discussion has taken place about the violence drug, and crime issues in the west Abbotsford area, namely in the area of Townline Road and Blueridge Drive. The community has requested the analysis of what is being SAID and what is REAL. This article is a compilation of recent events that have happened. This is a fact vs rumour analysis, decide what you want... participate in the discussion. What is referenced here is only a small cross-section of the search engine results available, there are many other incidents, Reader beware.
By Matt & Cherry Groves - No doubt you've heard about the incidence at the Mount Lehman Post Office last Friday afternoon. We just now had the same phone call supposedly from the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) 581-500-0042. This person is telling people to call the number and are then told they owe money in unpaid taxes and told how to pay it back. If they don't they'll be arrested etc, etc. We called the police department and they said they've had lots of calls about it but the number is untraceable and there's nothing they can do. We thought to alert the community... BEWARE don't fall prey to this scam!Protect Our Children in Bradner updated that yes, unfortunately Conway is still residing in our community of Bradner! The Abbotsford City has taken both the homeowner and WJS Canada, a social services organization, to court for violating zoning bylaws. The trial is scheduled for sometime in February and if the city wins, Conway will be kicked out.

Mt Lehman BC - I am a parent of Mt. Lehman Elementary and I will just start this letter with letting you know right off I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PROPOSAL. I sit here and wonder though, is this a proposal or just a strategy of a long term plan to do away with our rural schools? By Dawn Lewis, Bradner Parent
This isn't how Saturday nights are meant to be! Thank you Abbotsford School District for ruining my weekend! I can't think of anything else but your reconfiguration proposal or the billions of reasons why your wrong in what your doing. Good luck to the poor shmuck that will have to read my letters and the research I've compiled on the subject. I would normally pass this along with a bottle of sympathy wine but I will be enjoying that while I work through the night... and passing the others to my partners in this endeavour you've created for us. Dear Trustees of the Abbotsford Board of Education and whom it may concern - without prejudice.. My name is Conny Corcoran and I have 4 children; 3 of which attend Bradner Elementary, and 1 which has graduated from Bradner's grade 7 class and attended Bradner since Kindergarten, who now attends DW Poppy. I am writing on behalf of saving our school's K-7 configuration. Kevin Godden cited in his letter from November 26, 2015 that "Parents/Guardians along with students and staff are By Heather Lemieux,
Signs were put up in Bradner to voice the stance of the community in opposition of the Abbotsford School Board's proposed plan to reconfigure Bradner Elementary from a Grade K-7 - to a K-5. This proposal is being expedited by the school board leaving parents rushed into a decision to leave Bradner school or risk their children having to attend Eugene Reimer Middle School right beside Rick Hansen Secondary. The majority of Bradner parents are withdrawing their children to cross-district in Langley, register at private schools or home school because they do not want to send their children to end up in Eugene Reimer, Middle Schools in general and want their right to choose what's best for their children to be protected. This plan includes 6 rural farm community schools in Abbotsford. If it goes through hundreds of children will be forced to leave their communities or be bussed nearly ten's of kilometres to inner city schools. Bradner born and raised Sheldon Walsh is an engineer on our local tracks. He says, "Anytime is train time folks!... this is the train I built in Huntingdon Yard today". Please pay attention and stay safe at crossings. CTV Vancouver posted the following article about a woman being trapped in her car following a collision with a train at Lickman Road in Chilliwack and was taken to hospital in serious condition. Bradner, BC - Here is a compelling story of what was most likely a thwarted attempt of mail theft as explained to me by a rural homeowner. If you have any comments on this story, please email me and I will forward the message to the landowner who contacted me. A possible mail theft was averted recently on Townshipline Road, between Ross and Bradner Roads. Where a flower stand and pumpkin stand are along the road. Sometimes mail gets delivered in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon-not consistent. |
