Country Kids is accepting registrations for Summer & Boot Camps for July and August 2016. Register your kids today! These camps were very popular last summer. Lets get the word out there for great turn out again this year! Country Kids Preschool & Out of School Care is a licensed childcare facility located in the heart of Mt Lehman (across from Mt Lehman Elementary School). They offer summer and spring break programs during the holidays, and Preschool, Before & After School and Pro-D day childcare during the school year. Because Bradner Elementary has no options for childcare, Country Kids Preschool owner Carryl Peters wants Bradner parents to know that it's possible that a private shuttle bus program be started to and from Bradner - IF there is enough enrolment. Get in touch with Carryl today and let her know if you're interested!

Bradner, BC - Editorial, By Heather Lemieux - A meeting was held last night regarding bussing in the Abbotsford School District. Ray Velestuk, Secretary-Treasurer of the Abbotsford School Board said that the district looked at getting rid of bussing ENTIRELY or increasing the amount bussed students pay by 3 or 4 times.
The Abbotsford News misreported results from last week's poll about the Abbotsford School Board's decision to strip the top two grades out of all Abbotsford rural schools including Bradner and Mt Lehman.
Bradner, BC - On February 23rd, 2016 exhausted parents and members of the community attended the Abbotsford Board of Education meeting to hear the trustees vote on the fate of rural Abbotsford schools.
Without prejudice - Reader beware. The Abbotsford School Districts plan to re-configure 6 rural schools in Abbotsford from grades K - 7 to K - 5 has brought a lot of stress on families with children attending district schools. The west Abbotsford children are to be sent to Eugene Reimer Middle School (ER), and has parents standing up to the district in force saying no and standing firm - their kids have been withdrawn from the district all together. So what's wrong with middle school? Whats wrong with ER? Much discussion has taken place about the violence drug, and crime issues in the west Abbotsford area, namely in the area of Townline Road and Blueridge Drive. The community has requested the analysis of what is being SAID and what is REAL. This article is a compilation of recent events that have happened. This is a fact vs rumour analysis, decide what you want... participate in the discussion. What is referenced here is only a small cross-section of the search engine results available, there are many other incidents, Reader beware.
What on earth is going on at Dunach Elementary School? The Abbotsford School District closed this school in June 2010 and boarded up the windows. The Abbotsford Police have been seen there frequently as it is thought that they are conducting parts of their training in the building, but not lately. Over the last few months there has been School District staff, contractors and equipment doing various upgrades and construction. Today, a Bradner parent saw a huge garbage bin outside with tables, chairs, projectors and equipment... why the school district is being so hush hush...?!
On February 3rd, 2016, trustees Kevin Godden and the School Board Treasurer attended Bradner Elementary School for a meeting with Bradner parents who posed questions from every possible angle, re-phrased and re-worded to get results. Straight answers were almost non-existent. The only question they answered without smoke in mirrors or trotting down bunny trails was, "Did the district buy land on the east side of Abbotsford for a new school?" In light of all the latests upheavals I’ve felt in my community of Bradner and the enormous strain the re-configuration plan has put on Our families, unknowingly or not, I suggest the Abbotsford School Board take a minute - and a long stride in the backwards direction - to see the ramifications of their surprise announcement in late November 2015 and their effects on the smaller of life sources within our great country.
By Lynda Richard - The community of Bradner is well known for its annual Bradner May Day Celebration.
This important community event has been taking place for nearly 100 years! May Day began 97 years ago and involved all of the communities in the northwest Abbotsford area, formerly known as Matsqui. Bradner Elementary students were invited to Jonathan Field's horse farm last June. It was an amazing demonstration!! Jonathan Field is a Bradner Elementary graduate. He was raised and still lives in Bradner British Columbia. He was part of a horse loving family and he’s been around them ever since. Growing up in the rural community of Bradner, Jonathan spent many evenings and weekends with his family and friends spending time with their horses and competing with the local 4H Club. At the age of 13, a trip to a cattle branding with his family changed Jonathan’s focus, spurring him toward another path with horses. He was now determined to be a cowboy. For four seasons Jonathan worked at the historic Quilchena Cattle Company, one of the largest operating cattle ranches in Canada. He lived the cowboy life, nestled in a cow camp, riding the range every day, driving cows, branding calves — rain, snow or shine. Each day was spent in the saddle, and a teenaged Jonathan could imagine nothing better. |
