225 acres of west Bradner is again being considered as a new industrial site. This time the City of Abbotsford itself is applying for the exclusion. The DEADLINE to respond to the city with your concerns is on June 20th, 2016 - although the city did not provide a meeting time or location. This news and deadline was received on Friday June 17th, 2016 - which gives the community just 3 days warning... over the weekend. Back in February 2016, the Agriculture Land Commission (ALC) denied an application by an industrial developer.
By Russell Walsh - The Lower Mainland's housing crisis can be solved. The green and pink parts of this map mark Crown Land in the Lower Mainland, BC. This map holds the key to solving what is arguably the most critical problem the Lower Mainland has ever faced - astronomically high, unattainable cost of accommodation.
The Abbotsford News misreported results from last week's poll about the Abbotsford School Board's decision to strip the top two grades out of all Abbotsford rural schools including Bradner and Mt Lehman.

David de Wit of Rick Hansen Secondary named Canada’s Outstanding Principals™ Award Winner 2016 The Learning Partnership honours Abbotsford School District principal for exemplary leadership By Sharon Smit,
Bradner BC - Yes, I am very opposed to K-5 for our rural schools for many reasons! HOWEVER, people are spreading rumours about what they THINK Eugene Reimer and Rick Hansen are like. Although enrollment for both of these schools has been declining, it is mostly due to rumours that people are circulating about these two schools. I have had 2 daughters attend Eugene Reimer Middle School (ER) and are now at Rick Hansen Secondary (RH), and they are both doing very well at school. By Dawn Lewis, Bradner Parent
This isn't how Saturday nights are meant to be! Thank you Abbotsford School District for ruining my weekend! I can't think of anything else but your reconfiguration proposal or the billions of reasons why your wrong in what your doing. Good luck to the poor shmuck that will have to read my letters and the research I've compiled on the subject. I would normally pass this along with a bottle of sympathy wine but I will be enjoying that while I work through the night... and passing the others to my partners in this endeavour you've created for us. Dear Trustees of the Abbotsford Board of Education and whom it may concern - without prejudice.. My name is Conny Corcoran and I have 4 children; 3 of which attend Bradner Elementary, and 1 which has graduated from Bradner's grade 7 class and attended Bradner since Kindergarten, who now attends DW Poppy. I am writing on behalf of saving our school's K-7 configuration. Kevin Godden cited in his letter from November 26, 2015 that "Parents/Guardians along with students and staff are By Heather Lemieux,
Signs were put up in Bradner to voice the stance of the community in opposition of the Abbotsford School Board's proposed plan to reconfigure Bradner Elementary from a Grade K-7 - to a K-5. This proposal is being expedited by the school board leaving parents rushed into a decision to leave Bradner school or risk their children having to attend Eugene Reimer Middle School right beside Rick Hansen Secondary. The majority of Bradner parents are withdrawing their children to cross-district in Langley, register at private schools or home school because they do not want to send their children to end up in Eugene Reimer, Middle Schools in general and want their right to choose what's best for their children to be protected. This plan includes 6 rural farm community schools in Abbotsford. If it goes through hundreds of children will be forced to leave their communities or be bussed nearly ten's of kilometres to inner city schools. The Abbotsford School Board issued a single page letter By Nicole Fadden, Barrowtown Elementary School Parent
I am a parent of 3 children that attend Barrowtown Elementary. Currently they are in grade 3, 2 and 1. For the 2015-2016 school year, there are 88 registered students at Barrotown. The year prior was approximately 92. I have several concerns for our rural schools turning into K-5 schools for various reason. Not just with the school that affects our household, but many other farming families who currently use rural schools like Mt. Lehman, Bradner, Aberdeen, Ross and Upper Sumas Elementary. |
