David de Wit of Rick Hansen Secondary named Canada’s Outstanding Principals™ Award Winner 2016 The Learning Partnership honours Abbotsford School District principal for exemplary leadership By Matt & Cherry Groves - No doubt you've heard about the incidence at the Mount Lehman Post Office last Friday afternoon. We just now had the same phone call supposedly from the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) 581-500-0042. This person is telling people to call the number and are then told they owe money in unpaid taxes and told how to pay it back. If they don't they'll be arrested etc, etc. We called the police department and they said they've had lots of calls about it but the number is untraceable and there's nothing they can do. We thought to alert the community... BEWARE don't fall prey to this scam!Protect Our Children in Bradner updated that yes, unfortunately Conway is still residing in our community of Bradner! The Abbotsford City has taken both the homeowner and WJS Canada, a social services organization, to court for violating zoning bylaws. The trial is scheduled for sometime in February and if the city wins, Conway will be kicked out.
After a fun filled weekend @ Bradner Sno Pitch the team “Game Time” won the A division 5 - 4 in extra winnings! Bradner Sno Pitch was started 21 years ago and called Sno Pitch due to the near three feet of snow they got on year one. Being determined and tough as Bradner's are reputed for, they kept on playing! Ever since, Sno Pitch is ON... no matter the Snow, Sleet, Rain or Shine! Baseball Teams who enter dress up in unison, we saw SASQUATCHES, SANTAS, and EIGHTIES apparel this year! So fun! Join Bradner next year for a great time out in the sticks : ) and bring your costumes and bat!
Thanks Dirty 25 Sports Gear for Keeping us Warm!Anonymous Submission - I'm not the best person with words, but I want you to know that myself my children and so many other families who attend our rural schools are not happy and do not agree with making these schools K-5. My girls have attended Ross Elementary since K. One is now in grade 5 and one in grade 3. I lost my husband and my girls father a few years ago.
Bradner Elementary students were invited to Jonathan Field's horse farm last June. It was an amazing demonstration!! Jonathan Field is a Bradner Elementary graduate. He was raised and still lives in Bradner British Columbia. He was part of a horse loving family and he’s been around them ever since. Growing up in the rural community of Bradner, Jonathan spent many evenings and weekends with his family and friends spending time with their horses and competing with the local 4H Club. At the age of 13, a trip to a cattle branding with his family changed Jonathan’s focus, spurring him toward another path with horses. He was now determined to be a cowboy. For four seasons Jonathan worked at the historic Quilchena Cattle Company, one of the largest operating cattle ranches in Canada. He lived the cowboy life, nestled in a cow camp, riding the range every day, driving cows, branding calves — rain, snow or shine. Each day was spent in the saddle, and a teenaged Jonathan could imagine nothing better. By Sharon Smit,
Bradner BC - Yes, I am very opposed to K-5 for our rural schools for many reasons! HOWEVER, people are spreading rumours about what they THINK Eugene Reimer and Rick Hansen are like. Although enrollment for both of these schools has been declining, it is mostly due to rumours that people are circulating about these two schools. I have had 2 daughters attend Eugene Reimer Middle School (ER) and are now at Rick Hansen Secondary (RH), and they are both doing very well at school. By Carryl Peters,
Mt Lehman BC - I am a parent of Mt. Lehman Elementary and I will just start this letter with letting you know right off I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS PROPOSAL. I sit here and wonder though, is this a proposal or just a strategy of a long term plan to do away with our rural schools? |
