Bradner Elementary students were invited to Jonathan Field's horse farm last June. It was an amazing demonstration!! Jonathan Field is a Bradner Elementary graduate. He was raised and still lives in Bradner British Columbia. He was part of a horse loving family and he’s been around them ever since. Growing up in the rural community of Bradner, Jonathan spent many evenings and weekends with his family and friends spending time with their horses and competing with the local 4H Club. At the age of 13, a trip to a cattle branding with his family changed Jonathan’s focus, spurring him toward another path with horses. He was now determined to be a cowboy. For four seasons Jonathan worked at the historic Quilchena Cattle Company, one of the largest operating cattle ranches in Canada. He lived the cowboy life, nestled in a cow camp, riding the range every day, driving cows, branding calves — rain, snow or shine. Each day was spent in the saddle, and a teenaged Jonathan could imagine nothing better. Jonathan supports his local community by offering his farm (a hop-skip-jump from Bradner Elementary) and shares his expertise on Equine care, maintenance and Natural Horsemanship Training for the Bradner children to learn about. These techniques are about a relationship with animals that put the importance on Communication, Psychology and Understanding vs Fear, Intimidation and Mechanics. Jonathan has a natural ability to communicate to humans as well as horses! He is a gifted teacher, presenter and horseman with a driving passion to share his message. A message that is proving amazing results world wide, with the Field Horsemanship Program now being adopted in England, Ireland, Europe, Australia and all over North America. Jonathan presents at the largest Horse Expos in North America, has produced an Educational Home Study Program distributed around the world, teach the Professors and 3rd year Veterinary students at the Calgary University, coached Mounted Police Officers safe horse training techniques and has helped several Olympic Riders and their Horses. He has hosted Bradner Elementary Students in his facility on two occasions with high attendance and excellent feedback from students, parents and teachers alike. Bradner thanks you, Jonathan!
