Joseph C. Shields, Student of Rick Hansen Secondary School
Living in the Bradner area and as a former Bradner Elementary student, I can say that I loved Bradner. I've always loved the area. And the school plays a key part in keeping the Bradner tradition alive. After Bradner I went to Eugene Reimer Middle School. Which was a mostly positive experience, of course any school has their flaws but I would say Eugene Reimer, being smaller is still a good school by all means.

Brian Kingman - Mount Lehman, BC
Misinformation; a sign that perhaps should be corrected. Not Est. 1864! The informative sign post as you enter the settlement community of Mount Lehman is a very thoughtful introduction sign. However, I for one, believe the date is ten years out as in my opinion, the discussion and decision to call the community Mount Lehman occurred well after 1874. Did you know? Let's Talk Abbotsford is the City of Abbotsford's online engagement portal where you can have your say and stay up-to-date on projects that the City is working on. There is a variety of projects and initiatives listed in the Easy-to-use website - like Parks, Recreation, Infrastructure and Development, Road Improvement Projects, Environmental Planning and Trees!
For eight long-years the community of Bradner has been fending off industrial development - the majority of us breath a huge sigh of relief with each failed Agriculture Land Reserve (ALR) exclusion application for 331 acres on Bradner's western border, and brace in apprehension for when the next application will be attempted.
Bill Vander Zalm, Abbotsford BC - Dear Mayor Braun, As best as I can, I have been following your comments about the proposed “South Fraser Community Rail.” Your questioning of the work being done by this hard-working volunteer group, which has the livability of the Fraser Valley as its’ primary objective, is welcome, but unfortunately not based on facts. You obviously are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.
Frank Bucholtz, Peace Arch News, re-posted with permission - A proposal to use the former BC Electric Railway interurban line from Surrey to Chilliwack for passenger rail service has sparked a lot of interest and debate in recent months. Wetlands Threatened by Expanding Industustrial Developments on Langley and Abbotsford Border5/7/2019 Brit Gardner - I went for a Langley walk yesterday along the West Creek headwaters, in Gloucester Industrial Estates. Close to where I grew up. Thanks to the beavers, these wetlands are a beautiful, thriving, and complete ecosystem. The creek headwaters are home to salmon spawning, geese, ducks, rare and migratory birds, rabbits, and countless other wildlife.
On February 16th, 2018, the Abbotsford News published an article about what Mayor Henry Braun thinks will happen with the recent ALR exclusion application - submitted by the City itself, despite the huge public outcry in opposition. The application was made to the Agriculture Land Commission (ALC) in late 2017, asking the ALC for nearly 700 acres of farmland in Abbotsford to be removed from the ALR for industrial parks - 331 acres in Bradner and 380 acres in South Mt. Lehman by the airport.
Way to go City of Abbotsford. You've decided to support an application that will destroy a community, pollute a salmon spawning creek and obliterate an area that is environmentally fragile. It's ok though because your friend Ron Emerson will make millions of dollars.
