LANGLEY, B.C. – February 14, 2017. The Conservative Party of Canada’s all candidate’s debate, dubbed the “Debate in the Valley,” sold out a week ahead of schedule according to Steve Schafer, President of the Conservatives’ Cloverdale – Langley City Electoral District Association. “Our organizing committee is elated that in just two weeks the event was sold out. We released an additional 100 tickets and those have sold out as well” said Schafer. Organizers have claimed at least twelve of the fourteen candidates will participate. Deepak Obhrai has previously scheduled engagements in Quebec and Ottawa on the 18th, and Kevin O’Leary’s team are trying to reschedule other events and suggest they might not be able to attend. Senator Yonah Martin will be the moderator of the event.
Schafer said: “We continue to hope all candidates will make BC a priority. Nearly 600 people from all over the province are coming as well as many media outlets. We believe this speaks to the immense interest this Leadership contest has generated, and the strength of the Conservative movement in general. In addition to the Debate held here in Langley, there are a couple of hundred more people going to the Vancouver debate the next day.” With the support of the CPC associations in Abbotsford, Langley-Aldergrove, and Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, the Leadership Debate will be held on February 18th from 1 p. m. to 4 p.m. at Darvonda Nurseries located at 6690 – 216 Street in Langley. Check-in for the event starts at 12 noon. Schafer said there are dozens of volunteers who have put in hours over the last few weeks to make this event possible. “This debate’s success is a testament to the dedicated volunteers who have worked very hard to bring the event to the Fraser Valley. We’re looking forward to a lively debate and the opportunity to hear from the next Prime Minister of Canada.” For further information and to reserve your media pass please contact Jim Pratt, President CPC Langley-Aldergrove EDA at 604-897-1599.
