Peggy Parkinson

Margaret "Peggy" Agnes (Moran) Parkinson
MARCH 6, 1949 – MAY 29, 2019

Peggy Parkinson passed away on May 29, 2019 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years old. Peggy is survived by her loving family – husband Dave, daughter Nicole, son-in-law Peter, beloved grandchildren Caitlyn and Brayden, two brothers including dear brother Paddy Moran, friend Gladys, cousins Nola and Rena and aunt Pat Fowles.
Dennis Neumann - Mrs. Parkinson was one of my favourite teachers and made Bradner Elementary a very special place when I was attending in the early to mid 90s. Thank you, Julia, for sharing about getting her a half cup of coffee from the staff room! I had forgotten about that. I remember "din-dins" last night as well.

One of my favourite activities in her class was the art projects. She would have blank sheet of paper attached to the chalkboard and draw a single line that the rest of the students would then mimic on their own sheet of paper. Eventually the image would reveal itself and we would have to colour it in, but not with solid colours. We would fill the image with tiny circles that she would call "beadwork". We once did a giant mural outside the classroom that must have taken us weeks to fill with beadwork.

Thank you, Mrs. Parkinson!

Julia Edmunds (Enns) - I had the privilege of having Mrs. Parkinson for grade 2 and grade 3 (mornings) at Bradner Elementary. I will always remember the kindness and love she showed me and other students. She had a special way of connecting to students; especially those who might have difficulties or be struggling. She was strict yet fun... always having a great sense of humour! Some memories I remember are getting her a half cup of coffee regularly from the staff room (and trying not to spill it on the way back), din dins (asking what we had for dinner the previous night), and I also remember her “threatening” me to make sure I smiled for our class picture (I was a very shy student)! Unfortunately, I can’t be at Mrs Parkinson’s funeral today (I am not in town anymore) but want you to know the impact she had on her students all those years ago! She will certainly be missed!

Craig Allert - I will always remember, my teacher, Miss Moran fondly. I, along with 6 others, were in an accelerated learning program at Centennial Park Elementary where we essentially did grades 1-3 in two years. Miss Moran was our beloved teacher and guide through those years. If memory serves, she became Mrs. Parkinson near the end of our second year with her. Of my many fond memories is when she hosted all 7 of us at her farm and brought us to the barn to show us the 7 cows she had named after each of us. A fantastic teacher and wonderful lady. My condolences to the family.

Joan Tobin - We wish to send our condolences to the family of Peggy. I knew her when I worked at John’s drugstore. A very loving person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dan Village - Peggy was an amazing educator and wonderful staff member. I had the pleasure of working with her for a number of years and enjoyed every minute of it. She kept Bradner’s traditions alive, kids in line, and staff thoroughly entertained.

More than once, when the end of recess bell rang, she would tell the rest of the staff to stay put while she organized an impromptu sports day. As I said...amazing.

Many memories. All good ones.

Dale & Tim Crombie - Dear Dave, Nicole and Family, I just read about the loss of your wife, Dave. Nicole the loss of your Mom. Peter, your Mother-in-law and Caitlyn and Brayden the loss of your Grandmother. Her obituary came as a very sad, unexpected shock to me. I was the secretary for a few years at Bradner Elementary School where Peggy time shared and taught her class along with Faye Hanson. I loved her dry sense of humour. Her feistiness, her deep love for what was important to her. Her super clean house and her neglected car which one day had a mouse scampering on the dash. She always smiled and wished she could have a beer and a smoke at recess. I actually met Peggy 50 years ago as my husband Tim played soccer with Paddy and Tom. Peggy, her Mom and Dad would come to some of the soccer games along with my in-laws, Edith and Pat Crombie. There were other connection as both Pat Crombie and Paddy Moran Sr. were dairy farmers and they played soccer against each other. I remember Nicole as a very young child loved going to the barn to watch her Grandfather milk the cows. He put her in a milk pail so nothing would happen to her. I am truly sorry for your loss and I wish I could be there tomorrow to hug you all but unfortunately I have a commitment which will make me unavailable. So I'm sending all of you our love and hugs. I will have a wee drink tomorrow night in Peggy's Memory. A toast to a warm, kind, caring woman who fiercely cared about her family and friends. Dale & Tim Crombie xxoo

Sharon Christian -  Peggy will be missed but certainly never forgotten! She touched many peoples’ lives...especially the lives of her students. Peggy had a heart of gold and cared very deeply. I was lucky enough to call her my friend. She loved and was very proud of her family. One of my favourite memories of Mrs. Parkinson was how on Friday mornings she would come into my classroom and spell words for my class as I gave them their weekly spelling test... Ah, Mrs. P you are one in a million... I will miss you, my friend <3

Alan Sundquist - Peggy always had a good heart and wonderful sense of humour! So many good memories of teaching with Peggy at Bradner School. She had a special way of working with each different student.
Condolences to Dave, Nicole and family.

Carla Hale ( Albertson) - My deepest condolences to your family!! I remember the days Peg & Sharon (Brady) would have so much fun, laugh and laugh! I am sure they will be up to that again!! Many hugs to the family!
