Two tributaries in Bradner have been found with serious pollution in recent weeks. Both lead to Bruff (Bradner) Creek and Beaver (Nathan) Creek, which are salmon bearing creeks... children play in them and wildlife drinks from them. There is a good chance that polluted water may be running through your property... These tributaries are so bad that when discovering them your eyes will water, your nose and throat will sting... for days and you will gag, you'll only dry heave if you're lucky. Tributary #1This map shows the location of the 1st tributary, it's south of 58th Ave, near the Harris Rd. right of way and just a bit east of the 56th/58th Ave. ravine, Abbotsford BC. The whole tributary water is black as night, iridescent, stinks unbearably and is growing all shapes of whitish slime. The images below show wildlife prints above the black water. Water splashes contrast sharply against nearby bright green leaves. This is where the tributary meets Bruff (Bradner) Creek. The black water joins the clean water and continues towards Beaver (Nathan) Creek at the 56th/58th intersection culverts. White fibrous slime grows everywhere in Bruff (Bradner) Creek. Salmon fry are noticeably few in number and are hard to see through the black water. The City of Abbotsford's Environment department has been on site. They also say that the Ministry of Environment (MOE) has attended. Yet the pollution continues to be pumped out of this pipe at the tributary head. Although this has been reported to Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) they have not taken any known actions. The stink here is so disgusting you really need to smell for yourself, but as it is... I'm sure you get the picture. Tributary #2This is the map of the 2nd polluted tributary, located north of 58th Ave. and west of Beatty St., Abbotsford BC. The yellow line marks the area that is the worst polluted in terms of observed sludge and solid waste. This is the location of a previous violation. This tributary runs into Lehman Creek which joins Nathan Creek just South of Nathan Ave., they are both Salmon bearing creeks and children play in them. The slime lifts like a solid with a machete and pipes coil everywhere. This appears to be a dumping site. At the time of the picture there had been no rain for at least a week, yet the surface of the brown stuff was very wet. When disturbing the surface black is revealed. What you can do!Report this to all societies, partners, health authorities and neighbours. Call the City of Abbotsford, call DFO and the Ministry of Environment.
