UPDATE: November 30th, 2015 RE: Mt. Lehman Cemetery Expansion Project FROM: Scott Watson, Abbotsford City We will be delaying the construction of Mt. Lehman Cemetery until 2016, looking to get started early in the New Year. This delay is as a result of getting the Request For Proposal out late, reviewing the proposals, having all of the proposals exceed the allotted budget and then with the Christmas Season coming up quickly not wanting to have the cemetery in a disarray shape during the holiday season. As we were optimistic that the expansion would be completed by the end of November 2015, it is just not possible. Your continued support in this project is appreciated. If you.. have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

The first confirmed burial took place there in 1884. That being Mrs. Katherine Lehman, the wife of Samuel Lehman. Since the early 2000’s, our cemetery has officially been full. The city has responded to some of the local residents who have initiated the proposal to expand our cemetery and therefore have begun the process of expansion. The City of Abbotsford invites the residents of, not only Mount Lehman, but anyone who is interested, to attend a public meeting being held at the Mount Lehman Elementary school, next Wednesday evening to have a look at the proposed expansion and view the Architects design boards and possibly a 3-D rendering. Public Information Meeting at the Mount Lehman Elementary School Library September 2 @ 6:30 - 8 pm Regarding the development of the Mount Lehman Cemetery.
