By Farrah Wise - Bradner Elementary - Last week was the annual Turkey Trot at Bradner Elementary School. At the end of the regular school day, everyone in the school participated in an exciting run around the school.
In previous years Brander Elementary School teachers facilitated the Bradner Barker Reporter Program - where they assigned one (or two) student(s) to write articles about different field trips/events within the school, or poems, farm stories etc. - which helped the student(s) practice writing skills, while also receiving notarization by being published and instilling a strong sense of belonging and contribution with their community. In turn, the older generations within both the Bradner and Mt Lehman communities really enjoy the connectedness they have while hearing about the many things happening that they support by supporting and attending PAC fundraising events and Bradner School hosted events such as the annual Remembrance Day tea. Which then inspires more community support for both the PAC and the school. So, on behalf of The Bradner Barker, the community of Bradner and the Bradner PAC, I am asking that the 'Bradner Student Reporter' program be continued to keep the strong connection we enjoy here in Bradner maintained : ) The more connected we all are as a community the greater things we are all able to do for our communities children - Bradner's own next generation! By Todd Ratcliff - UPDATE - drop in Baseball will resume in the spring - Check back here @ The Bradner Barker for dates : )
Hey Baseball players! As of Wednesday September 7th, 2016, Drop-in Slow pitch @ the main baseball diamond in Bradner will resume every Wednesday @ 6:30pm - every week until weather holds out. Parents/Guardians received this message, about School Bus fees, from the Abbotsford School District Superintendent, Kevin Godden today. The provincial government recently announced that they will provide school districts with additional funding for student transportation. Of the $14.7M in additional funding, $254,000 is slated for the Abbotsford School District.
Bradner May Day is a fundraiser put on by the Bradner PAC. It has been celebrated for 97 years! All proceeds go towards the Bradner student body - to enhance each child's education and pay for fun and/or educational field trips! The following list are exemplary sponsors whose contributions were integral to the festivities at Bradner May Day!
